The trial of David Rameau, 49, opens Tuesday, November 16 at the Assizes du Nord. He was appearing for the kidnapping, rape and murder of Angelique, a 12-year-old girl.
Angelic Six was only 12 years old. In the front row of the North Assize Court during the morning of Tuesday, November 16, her mother’s eyes are cloudy with tears, but firmly holds the photo of her daughter. Her alleged murderer, David Rameau, is on trial from today, accused of raping and killing Angélique.
Three years ago, in a small town near Lille, Angélique disappeared. The case then arouses great emotion. Identified through the file of sex offenders and former neighbor of Angélique’s family, David Rameau, father, was quickly arrested. He admits everything, says to have attracted the teenager to his home before abusing her, and strangling her. He had already been convicted of a sexual crime in January 1994 in the same region. The trial is to last the whole week. David Rameau faces life imprisonment.
