Online Tire Shopping: How She Saved 40%

A Montérégie resident saved over 40% on winter tires by shopping at pneusarabais.com, a popular site in Quebec, where she found better prices and a wider selection compared to local stores. Melissa Piperno highlighted the site’s discount codes and free, fast delivery. Experts note that while online tire sales are rising, many consumers still prefer visiting garages. Quebec’s online sales lag behind Europe, where over 20% of tire purchases occur online. PMCtire has recently gained recognition for its online sales initiative.

A resident of Montérégie managed to save over 40% on her winter tire purchases by shopping on a dedicated sales platform recently.

Melissa Piperno took the initiative to explore various websites for the best winter tire deals.

In her search, she discovered the well-regarded site pneusarabais.com, popular among Quebec consumers.

“When I compared prices with other retailers, this site had the lowest offer,” says the mother of two. “They frequently provide discount codes, and the delivery is not only fast but also free.”

“Additionally, there’s a wide selection of tire sizes and brands available.”

Clearly, comparing multiple websites can lead to significant savings.

For instance, a 20-inch KUMHO tire costs approximately $275 before tax on a specialized site. In contrast, this same tire may be priced around $400 at a competing location.

It’s important to remember that discounts and promotional offerings can vary among different sites and dealers. To ensure a fair comparison, consumers should look at identical tire brands and sizes.

Increased Variety

Shopping for tires online provides several benefits for consumers.

“The variety is much greater online,” explains Yannick Plante, co-owner of PMCtire, which also operates an online sales platform. “Brick-and-mortar shops typically have a more limited inventory, which may not fully meet your needs.”

Moreover, online retailers like Sherbrooke-based PMCtire can provide competitive pricing.

“We remain aggressive with our pricing,” Mr. Plante remarks. “Our strategy revolves around volume. If a competitor announces a sale, we aim to respond with our own deals almost immediately.”

Falling Behind Europe

Despite the growth of online shopping in various sectors, many consumers still prefer to buy tires from garages or dealerships—a trend that has persisted in Quebec for years.

Nevertheless, online sales contribute significantly to the overall revenue of the business, which employs around fifteen people.

In comparison to Europe, which sees online tire sales comprise over 20% of the market, Quebec still has some catching up to do.
