(London) Relatives, community members and dignitaries demonstrated against racism and Islamophobia on Sunday during a march marking the first anniversary of a bombing that claimed the lives of four members of a Muslim family.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Minister of Transport participated in the event where friends of the victims and members of the Muslim community called for action to counter Islamophobia.
Trudeau said millions of Canadians face microaggressions, discrimination and systemic racism every day. He added that the situation had to change.
He stressed that his government had adopted measures to combat hatred and racism, but more will have to be done to eliminate these scourges.

Daughter Yumna Afzaal, father Salman Afzaal, mother Madiha Salman and paternal grandmother Talat Afzaal died after being deliberately hit by a truck while out for a walk on June 6, 2021, in London.
The boy of the family was also injured, but he survived. A 21-year-old man is charged with four counts of first degree murder. Prosecutors say it was an act of terrorism.
The trial has not yet started.
Esa Islam, a cousin of Yumna, says the attack changed his life. According to him, politicians should walk the talk to prevent such attacks from happening in the future.
