Before Minstrel, there is Thibaut Dasté. Before the songwriter, there is a kid who comes and goes, here and there, with his parents. The family does not run on gold. Which does not prevent his father from taking little Thibaut to Marciac, where he regularly shares meals with musicians at just 7 years old. He has no idea of the huge jazz stars he rubs shoulders with. But no matter, he hears music and that’s enough for his happiness.
Because since childhood, with the complicity of his uncle, he discovered “parallel universes”: Blues, Rock, Pop. At 8, on his MP3, he listens to Led Zepllin and ACDC on repeat. He doesn’t know how but it’s certain, he will make music.
Later his parents go with him to Andalusia. By chance, they stop in a small village where the procession of the Black Virgin takes place, to the sound of gypsy guitars. It’s a revelation. Back from vacation, from the height of his 12 years, Thibault asks his parents for a guitar. He knows that they don’t have the means and that he will have to learn on his own and they understand that it is necessary to make the effort.
The sequel is a series of improbable encounters, which will lead Thibault under a marquee, under which he accompanies his new circus friends on the guitar, to the Trianon in Paris, invited by Naâmam, the pope of French Reggae. In the meantime, Minstrel has taken off, has overcome many hardships and today offers with growing success, intimate songs for music from elsewhere…
