A major fire broke out around 4:50 a.m. this Friday morning in a building on boulevard du Marechal Joffre in Bressuire in the Deux-Sèvres. Four apartments in the attic were totally ablaze when the firefighters arrived, who deployed significant resources, sending 50 men and 3 fire engines to the scene.
A heavy toll, one dead, one injured and several missing
A 20-year-old burnt man was evacuated to the CHNDS, the Nord Deux-Sèvres hospital center. One person was found charred, and three others are missing. The search is in progress but it is made difficult by the partial collapse of the roof. Two spears are still in action this early morning, including one from a ladder.
At 8 a.m. this Friday morning, the fire was announced to be contained.
