Arnaud Gaudet was in action at the Snowboard Dual Slalom World Cup in Berchtesgaden, Germany. The Quebecer was eliminated in his first playoff race against Pole Michal Nowaczyk.

Gaudet offered a fine opposition to his opponent, crossing the finish line 0.33 seconds behind. He believes, however, that there was a major difference between the two courses in the round of 16 as all the athletes who were in the red course were eliminated in this round.

“We always want to do more than an elimination race. I’m happy with my day, my run into the final went well even though I lost. The red course was clearly more difficult, for the first elimination run at least. I would have liked to go to the next round, but it went well anyway,” explained Gaudet after the competition.

In qualifying, Gaudet had signed the 10and best time of the day (1 minute 1.02 seconds). He retains this rank in the final standings.

Nowaczyk, who beat Gaudet, saw his run come to an end in the quarter-finals when he was beaten by South Korean Lee Sangho, who later won bronze.

Italy’s Edwin Coratti and Austria’s Andreas Prommegger ended the Grand Final tied.

After his last singles event of the season, Gaudet looks back on his accomplishments from the past campaign. He knows what to focus on in the offseason to become even more dangerous next year.

“I’m really satisfied with my season in slalom. I had more difficulty in giant slalom on the other hand. In slalom, I made the finals in all my races, I finished in 12and rank in total and I know that I am among the best, I must manage to be more consistent to go even further. »

Arnaud Gaudet will be back in action on Sunday with the presentation of the team parallel slalom events. He will join forces with Ontario’s Megan Farrell who won a silver medal on Saturday. Gaudet therefore has high expectations for his last event of the season.

“Megan (Farrell) just finished second, she’s in great shape. We have a good chance tomorrow (Sunday), it would be interesting to go for a podium to end the season in style. It would be a nice goal to finish with a medal,” he concluded.
