The barrier between Gaza and Israel, supposed to be impassable, was destroyed at several points that day, and breached by thousands of Hamas terrorists. Some attackers arrived by boat, others by motor paraglider.
The morning of the attack, Yaron Maor fought against Hamas in his home to protect his family. He experienced the faults of October 7, 2023 up close. “There is a terrorist coming in through the kitchen window. I get up, I go towards him, I fire two bullets and he falls backwards”he says. He was part of the kibbutz security team, armed men, but unprepared for an attack of this magnitude.
On October 7, 2023, the security fiasco was complete. Overwhelmed by events, Yaron ends up locking himself with his wife and their children in an armored and secure room, which will save them from the attack. But now he no longer has confidence in the Israeli army, which was only able to save them four hours after the attack began. In Tel Aviv (Israel), magistrates and retired generals are investigating this security fiasco. The Israelis must be content with this, because the authorities refuse an official investigation.
