Which political movement received the most votes in the first round? According to the Ministry of the Interior, it is the presidential majority Together!, with 21,359 votes in advance. But according to the alliance of the left Nupes, it is she who wins with 244,407 votes in advance. Who is right ? The eye on the campaign recounts the votes.
Everything is a matter of etiquette: the Ministry of the Interior assigns each candidate what it calls a “nuance”. For example, NUPES (NUP), Together! (ENS), or various right (DVD), to count the votes of each political formation.
Last week, the ministry labeled 543 candidates “NUPES” but the left alliance accuses it of having forgotten three candidates, labeled various left and came first in the first round: Hervé Saulignac in Ardèche, Joël Aviragnet in Haute -Garonne and Dominique Potier in Meurthe-et-Moselle. “If you add up these three candidacies in the New Popular Union, she is in the lead. That is enough to reverse the result,” denounces the spokesman of France Insoumise Manuel Bompard.
When contacted, the Ministry of the Interior justifies itself by indicating that these three candidates “had declared that they wanted to give up [l’]inauguration” of the NUPES. For Dominique Potier, the Ministry of the Interior is right. Thus he explained on June 1st on the antenna of France 3: “it’s very clear, I took the miscellaneous left label to differentiate myself from this agreement with which I had significant reservations”.
On the other hand, the two other candidates, whom we contacted, contradict the Ministry of the Interior. Hervé Saulignac says to himself “obviously” in the NUPES agreement, when to Joël Aviragnet, he assures: “I am the candidate of the PS within the framework of the NUPES agreements, I have always said the same thing!“The two of them gathered 28,027 votes, which would be enough to put NUPES ahead of the presidential majority.
The union of the left still claims 200,000 additional votes, from overseas. But the NUPES agreement did not apply to them, so the Ministry of the Interior did not count them.
Finally, the ministry adds that three candidates close to the majority were not counted in the votes collected by Together. They are Minister Damien Abad (various right), Dominica Michel, Diverse candidate in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and Marie-Luce Penchard, supported by the majority in Guadeloupe. Their scores would restore a narrow lead of 8,993 votes to the majority.
One thing is certain: the results of the two political alliances in the first round are in a pocket handkerchief.
