“As part of the policy of lifting the cruel sanctions against our country, the team led by Ali Bagheri, the Islamic Republic’s chief negotiator, will leave for Vienna in a few hours,” the ministry spokesman said. Nasser Kanani, in a press release.

Talks started in Vienna between Iran and the major powers to revive the 2015 international Iranian nuclear deal have stalled since March, after more than a year of talks.

At the end of June, Qatar organized indirect talks in Doha between Iran and the United States, which unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in 2018, in the hope of putting the Vienna process back on track, but these talks were halted after two days without any breakthrough.

On July 26, the head of European diplomacy and coordinator for the Iranian nuclear file, Josep Borrell, submitted a draft compromise and called on the parties involved in the talks to accept it in order to avoid a “dangerous crisis”.

On Monday, Iran showed itself to be “optimistic” about a resumption of nuclear talks after the examination of Mr. Borrell’s proposal.

“In this round of talks, which will take place as before with the coordination of the EU, discussions will be held on the ideas presented by the participants, in particular those presented this week by Iran to the other party”, he said. added Mr. Kanani.

According to the statement, he expressed hope for a resolution of the situation by “the opposing parties taking the necessary decisions and seriously focusing on the remaining issues”.
