NRJ: A columnist announces the death of a member of his family, killed in Ukraine

He will have kept his commitments until the end. Monday, March 14, 2022, a new journalist was killed during the war in Ukraine while covering the tragic events. It is Pierre Zakrzewski, a photographer and cameraman who leaves behind a family in France. Valentine Knight in particular part of it. The show’s columnist Manu in the 6/10 on NRJ with Emmanuel Levy shared the sad news on Twitter.

My cousin Pierre Zakrzewski, cameraman reporter, was killed yesterday in Ukraine. It is not written anywhere but Pierre was Franco-Irish, so he was also a French journalist. He died to inform us as he had done for several decades all over the world (Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, …) This conflict had a particular flavor, he told us a few days ago by message: ‘Putin does not care about human rights’“, he reported.

Despite the risks of staying there, Valentin Chevalier explains that his cousin had no intention of leaving the country invaded by Russia. “He was an incredible, ethical and humane man, ‘an absolute legend’ according to his colleagues. When asked a few days ago if he was planning to return soon: ‘Not at the moment. Honestly I don’t want to leave this country. I have a responsibility to stay’“, we still read on Twitter.
