The IOC Executive Committee has reaffirmed its condemnation of the actions of Russia and Belarus with regard to Ukraine, especially since the current war contravenes the Olympic truce signed last December.

This pact signed and approved by the 193 member states of the United Nations Organization stipulates that all signatory countries must not enter into conflict or war seven days before the start of the Olympic Games and seven days after the end of the Paralympic Games. However, Putin launched the assault in the heart of the Tokyo Games, between the Olympics and the Paralympics.

This is why the IOC urges international federations, such as the International Ski Federation (FIS), for example, to relocate the events planned in Russia or Belarus.

“Ensuring the safety and security of athletes is the priority,” the IOC said. He also wants all the flags, as well as the Russian and Belarusian national anthems to be neither visible nor heard during international events.

The Olympic Committee is wholeheartedly with the Paralympic Committee, which has yet to negotiate with the organization and holding of the Games which will begin on March 4.
