No thank you, Mr. Drainville! | The duty

I have just received your invitation to return to teaching. I answer a big “no thank you” to your call.

No matter how much money you can offer me, I won’t go back to teaching, not even for a day. Why then, will you tell me? Well, here it is:

I had the best job in the world! I taught preschool children, where the marvelous is daily. Despite the integration of several students in difficulty in the class, despite the many intervention plans, the major crises of some students to manage, the high demands of some parents, the unrecognized working hours on evenings and weekends , despite the non-reimbursed purchases to enrich the material of the class because the budget is too tight, I persevered with the task. Then the pandemic arrived. All school staff had to adapt by turning to a dime. Several teachers, including myself, have worked hard to develop their skills with technology.

This pandemic was the last straw, the one that broke the camel’s back! Luckily for me, I could retire. No regrets!

I understand that the CAQ government is not solely responsible for the mess in education. Previous governments must also do some serious soul-searching about their responsibility for teacher desertion.

Mr. Drainville, the task of teaching has become much too heavy, I prefer to occupy my retirement by working at minimum wage two days a week rather than going to lend a hand to you. My new tasks are much less stressful and less arduous.
