No, a higher school will not ultimately put 0/20 on the white BTS of a Covid-19 positive student

While the number of contaminations continues to increase in France, exams in higher education are maintained and will be held face-to-face. But according to a publication shared more than 13,000 times on Twitter, in the event of absence for one of his tests, a student risks 0/20 despite his positive test for Covid-19. Yes, this school sent this message to this student, before changing its mind and acknowledging its error. The student will eventually be “not evaluated”, told us about the school.

In a Twitter post on Thursday, January 13, a student shared a screenshot of a response email from his school stating that he told them he was Covid-positive and therefore could not participate in his first two white BTS events. The school email reads:Hello Lucas, thank you for your feedback. We apply the same rules as for the BTS tests, that is to say that any absence from an evaluation is equivalent (sic) to a 0/20. Best regards.

We contacted the student concerned, then the school where he continued his studies, the Higher Institute of Audiovisual (ISA). ISA management recognizes “a communication error in sending this email“. The ISA tells us that “make-ups cannot be organized within the framework of these mock exams“, organized internally, because “it is group work“Finally, the school management insisted that this student is the only one to have received this email.

Since then, the school has sent a new email to the student concerned to tell him that he will not be evaluated in the end because “the school calendar prevents the organization of remedial tests“.

Even if within the framework of these tests, organized internally by the school, there will be no catch-ups, the ISA specifies that there will be some for the official BTS exam which will be held in a month.

On December 29, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation published a health circular on the measures to be taken in the face of “the emergence of the Omicron variant of Covid-19“. Regarding students subject to isolation and who would be unable to participate in one or more tests, the ministry indicates that the schools will have to ensure “to organize a substitute session“in other words, remedial tests.
