Nîmes dismisses his trainer Pascal Plancque, replaced by Nicolas Usaï

Pascal Plancque is no longer the coach of Nîmes Olympque, current 12th in Ligue 2. “Following facts recently brought to its attention, Nîmes Olympique today notified Pascal Plancque of his dismissal as a precaution”, announced the Gard club in a brief press release, published on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Asked by AFP, the club’s communications manager, relegated to L2 at the end of last season, did not give details on the “facts recently brought to his attention” reproached to Pascal Plancque.

Without giving the reasons for this temporary layoff, the club quickly inducted Nicolas Usaï, 47 years old and native of Marseille, in place of Plancque. Free since his departure from Châteauroux, then in Ligue 2, in December 2020, he will succeed him on Wednesday, said club management. A presentation press conference will take place that same day.

“After having coached the Athletico Marseille, Sedan and Châteauroux, Nicolas Usaï will take the reins of the first team of Nîmes Olympique from Wednesday 5 January”, indicated in the evening the direction.

Arrived in Nîmes in January 2021 as assistant coach to Jérôme Arpinon, whom he then replaced, Plancque, 58, had succeeded in giving hope to the Crocos but was ultimately unable to avoid the descent. However, his contract was extended last June for two seasons, until June 2023.

Beaten by Toulouse (2-1) during the 19th day on December 21, Nîmes is 15 points behind the leader, AC Ajaccio, and only 3 ahead of the barrage, SC Bastia. Poor results that annoy the president and majority shareholder Rani Assaf, who threatened last May to withdraw from the club.
