In an interview published in the JDD, Nicolas Sarkozy invited the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, to form a coalition with Les Républicains. An idea that some members of the right-wing party do not share.

A former close to the current. Nicolas Sarkozy gives advice to Emmanuel Macron in an interview given to the JDD, Sunday October 23. In the latter, the President of the Republic between 2007 and 2012 invites the current President to form a coalition with Les Républicains, explaining that “(…)France is now mostly on the side of the party of authority, firmness, freedom.”

Emmanuel Macron could find an interest in it since this alliance could compensate for the relative majority of Renaissance in the National Assembly. A prospect that does not delight Olivier Marleix, president of the LR group at the Assembly: “We are an alternative to Emmanuel Macron. If we are no longer an alternative, only Madame Le Pen will remain.” A position shared by Bruno Retailleau, senator from Vendée and candidate for the LR presidency, believing that a “alliance with Macron would be the final end of LR.” The Republicans will elect their new president on December 4.
