This means that he will earn around 7.95 million annually until the end of the 2029-2030 season.

The 23-year-old forward was playing his second full NHL campaign last season. He played 66 of the Senators’ 82 games and was the team’s top scorer, finding the back of the net 35 times. He collected 55 points in total.

“We are very happy to have come to a long-term agreement with Josh,” commented general manager Pierre Dorion. He is a versatile striker who continues to mature into an exceptional player. »

His scoring prowess has already shown that he is a huge asset to us and will help us get to the next level. His dedication and pride in presenting good physical condition will serve as a good example for our next wave of young players.

Norris was a first-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2017. The Michigan native was named American League Rookie of the Year in 2019-20, before making the jump to the Senators.

His contract is similar to that of Nick Suzuki, of the Canadian, who begins his eight-year and 63 million contract next season. Suzuki is only three months younger than Norris.
