The Paris prosecutor’s office is requesting that Gérard Depardieu be referred to the criminal court for the rape of actress Charlotte Arnould. The facts date back to the summer of 2018. The investigating judge will have to decide on the direction given to the procedure.
Gérard Depardieu could be tried for rape and sexual assault. The Paris prosecutor’s office is requesting a trial before the criminal court. In 2018, in his Parisian mansion, Gérard Depardieu received the young actress Charlotte Arnould. He had known her since childhood, because her father was a long-time friend. Aged 22 at the time of the events, Charlotte Arnould says she suffered digital penetration and touching.
On Instagram, Thursday, August 22, Charlotte Arnould said she was “very moved” by the prosecutor’s announcement. Gérard Depardieu and his lawyers have not responded. A year ago, the actor contested Charlotte Arnould’s version in a column in Le Figaro, without ever mentioning her name. The investigating judge in charge of the case must decide whether to hold a trial. In October, Gérard Depardieu must already appear for other sexual assaults on two women during the filming of the movie Les Volets verts.
