A first real trailer of the long-awaited series House of the Dragon was unveiled this Thursday by HBO, in anticipation of the first episode, on August 21, which will immerse viewers in the world of Game Of Thronesthe biggest hit in the broadcaster’s history and the most successful Emmy-winning drama series.

Largely based on the novel Fire and Blood by George RR Martin, House of the Dragon takes place almost 200 years before the events of the original series, during a war of succession that will tear House Targaryen apart. The conflict, nicknamed The Dance of the Dragons, will also lead to its fall and the virtual disappearance of the winged monsters, until the arrival of Daenerys, the Mother of the dragons Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal.
The new series, whose budget should border on 200 million for the first 10 episodes, will be co-directed by Ryan Condal (colony, rampage) and Miguel Sapochnik, who signed some of the most significant episodes of Game of Thrones, including Battle of the Bastards and The Long Night. According to information obtained by varietythe inaugural season of House of the Dragon will therefore cost more than the final chapter of the original series.
The new incarnation of the George RR Martin universe will star Paddy Considine (Viserys Targaryen), Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen).
In Canada, the series will be available only on Crave, in English version and in French subtitled version. Crave’s spokesperson did not confirm to The Press the date of posting of the version dubbed in French, indicating however that the Canadian broadcaster had the “will is to offer it at the same time as the English version”.
