A shooting took place on the evening of Wednesday, August 21 in Échirolles, a suburb of Grenoble. One man was injured.
Shortly before midnight, on the evening of Wednesday, August 21, a new shooting broke out on an avenue in Échirolles (Isère). A man was shot and wounded before fleeing. At the scene, the police discovered a pistol and blood stains. It could be a settling of scores against a backdrop of drug trafficking. On Wednesday, late in the afternoon, around forty police officers carried out an operation in the same town, on a drug dealing point that is regularly the scene of violence.
The searched apartments, abandoned places, serve as squats for the lookouts. Two of them were arrested. For a month, the violence has multiplied: seven shootings spread mainly over three neighborhoods. According to the authorities, this is an illustration of a turf war between traffickers. Some of the protagonists, who were heavily sentenced (…) have been released [de prison] and wish to recover territories”explains Commissioner Christian Goyheneix, deputy departmental director of public security.
In the morning, the Minister of the Interior announced the dispatch of a CRS-8 brigade to secure the area.
