Two weeks after twelve migrants died trying to cross the Channel, a new tragedy has occurred at sea. This time, eight people lost their lives on Sunday, September 15.

It was on board a small inflatable boat that 59 people attempted to cross the Channel to reach England. On the beach, personal belongings were left abandoned. On Sunday, September 15, it was a little after 1 a.m. when the boat set sail. Very quickly, it capsized and crashed on the rocks. Eight people died in the accident. Stéphane Pinto, mayor of Ambleteuse (Pas-de-Calais) was one of the first on the scene. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.”he testifies, moved.

51 people were saved, including a ten-month-old baby. The baby was hospitalized with hypothermia. The boat set off into the sea near the town of Wimereux (Pas-de-Calais). The group was still close to shore when the boat capsized. The authorities are now denouncing the responsibility of the smugglers. And for good reason, this is the second tragedy at sea in the area.
