The mobilization has been going on for many months for the defense committee of the Toul public hospital. Once again this Saturday, around fifty people marched through the city center of Toul to denounce the lack of staff and the degradation of care at Saint-Charles Hospital.
A lack in particular of anesthesiologists which caused transferring patients to other hospitals explains Luc Ferretti, co-chairman of the committee: “Recently, an anesthesiologist was absent and a future mother was transferred to Nancy. There is a lack of anesthetist so we are catching up with the CHRU of Nancy, but there is also a lack of staff there and we cannot keep the balance forever“.
A version confirmed by Anne-Marie, whose mother was transferred to a Meuse hospital: “we were told that there was no more room in Toul“. Extra miles and extra worries for this Touloise, while for her “In all the small towns of the same size as Toul, these problems have become permanent closures.“
In the procession of users but also caregivers, some of whom are called in to help deal with the situation. This is the case of Catherine, a retired doctor: “The conditions are complicated because of the pandemic but also in general, it is the national health project that is at stake. Health is a common good that must be defended. Here, the situation is like everywhere else, Toul is no exception. Everyone fights back to do the maximum with the means we have.“
The defense committee of the public hospital of Toul asks for a long-term government policy to perpetuate the jobs and positions of the hospital of Toul.
