After Monday’s records in 64 municipalities, new absolute temperature records were broken on Tuesday, especially along the coasts of the north-west of the country, indicates Météo France. This means that it has never been so hot since the opening of the weather stations.
The resort of Dieppein Seine-Maritime, opened in 1949, recorded 40.4°C, against a previous record of 40.1°C on July 25, 2019. Cayeux-sur-Merin the Somme, whose station has only existed since 2006, recorded 41°C, against 40.1°C on July 25, 2019.
Other absolute records in Pas-de-Calais, with 39.6°C at Boulogne sur Mer (37.9°C on July 31, 2020), while the 40 mark was approached in the Touquet with 39.9°C (39.3°C on July 25, 2019) as at Calais (38.7°C on July 25, 2019).
Paris had its second hottest day since records in the capital, with 40.5°C, but far from its absolute record of 42.6°C recorded on July 25, 2019. In the east of the country, by which the heat wave is evacuating, the records have not fallen, despite high temperatures, 39.9°C at Lyons39.1°C to Mourmelon (Marne) or 38°C at Strasbourg-Entzheim.
