In interview at Log Monday, Charlotte Le Bon said she was “febrile and excited” at the idea of being able to share Falcon Lake for the first time with the Quebec public. The film has already been screened (successfully) at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight last May, as well as at the Toronto Film Festival at the beginning of September.

“I admit that, symbolically, it’s super strong to come and present it here because I was born in Montreal,” she confided. I have family who will be in the room and friends too. I hope the film will be well received and that Quebecers will understand what I wanted to do. »

Shot in the Laurentians in the summer of 2021, Falcon Lake recounts the first emotions of two teenagers – portrayed by Sara Montpetit and Joseph Engel – during the summer holidays, in a chalet located on the edge of a lake. The film is loosely adapted from the graphic novel A sisterby the French author Bastien Vivès.

Between Paris and Quebec

It is no coincidence that the film was shot in the Laurentians. In addition to having lived there for part of her adolescence, Charlotte Le Bon bought a house in this region about four years ago. After having spent ten years in France chaining roles in French and international films (including Yves Saint Laurent and Asterix and Obelix: at the service of Her Majesty), the 36-year-old actress and director now divides her time between Paris and Quebec.

The promotional campaign Falcon Lake allows him to live his first fall in Quebec for a long time.

“It’s really crazy to be able to rediscover the Quebec fall,” she gets carried away. In France, the leaves are green and, at some point, they fall. It’s super sad. There are no colors like here. At the moment, the trees are on fire in the Laurentians and I’m taking beauty slaps in the face. It’s incredible ! »

Falcon Lake hits theaters across Quebec on October 14.
