Netflix will shoot a mini-series adapted from the book there “All the light we can’t see”(“All The Light We Cannot See”). A novel by American writer Anthony Doerr which received the Pulitzer Prize in 2015. An adaptation in short format, four episodes of one hour only are planned for the first season.
The book tells the story of Marie-Laure, a blind teenager, and Werner, a German soldier, “whose paths cross in occupied France, as both attempt to survive the ravages of World War II”.
Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo
An adaptation with very beautiful people: Hugh Laurie, known for his role as Dr House and Mark Ruffalo (Avengers, Spotlight, Zodiac, Shutter Island…) are in the cast. But the production is also looking for 500 Aveyronnais to be by their side.
Hundreds of extras will be present for the filming, which is expected to take place in the center of Villefranche-de-Rouergue between the end of June and the end of July 2022. The casting will take place from April 19 to 23 at Place Notre-Dame.
Men and women of all ages
The roles are open to almost all ages to camp inhabitants or soldiers. On the other hand, women should not have highlighted hair or too modern cuts. The men will have to let their beards and hair grow so that the hairdressers can work at the start of the shoot. The production mainly seeks extras based in the Villefranche-de-Rouergue area for more flexibility. It also specifies that mileage costs are not covered.
