Nearly 40 kilos of fireworks, intended to be resold on Snapchat, seized in Strasbourg

In Strasbourg, the Strasbourg police officers found Tuesday afternoon 37.7 kilos of explosives at the home of a 20-year-old young man in the district of Neudorf. Investigators discovered that he resold mortars on the Snapchat social network.

In his apartment, an arsenal of 47 category F4 fireworks bombs, 75mm and 100mm in diameter, was seized. Those are fireworks reserved for professionals. To use them you need an authorization from the Ministry of the Interior. Tubes of mortars were also discovered.

Fireworks imported from Czech Republic

The young man imported explosive devices from the Czech Republic. He will be tried in immediate appearance this Thursday at the Strasbourg court.

Since the beginning of November, 2,700 mortars were seized by the police from Strasbourg. From December 1, 2021 to January 3, 2022, the sale, transport and use of fireworks are prohibited in the two Alsatian departments, by prefectural decrees.
