Record rainfall fell in Nepal on Friday September 27. The human toll is already very heavy: nearly 200 people have lost their lives.
Floods devastate everything in their path, neighborhoods swallowed up by water. Since Friday September 27, the situation in Kathmandu (Nepal) has been alarming. Torrential rains fell on the Nepalese capital, surprising its inhabitants. “The rain was getting more and more intense, the water entered my cabin, we jumped in and got out of there“, declares Hari OM Malla, a disaster victim.
Still provisional, the human toll already stands at nearly 200 people dead. Of these, 36 were in their car when a landslide buried them alive. On board a boat, rescuers try to make their way. More than 3,000 people were mobilized to help the victims. Today, residents see the extensive damage. According to the Nepalese Meteorological Agency, this is the heaviest rainfall recorded in 54 years.
