An investigation was opened at the beginning of July against the navigator. Kevin Escoffier, targeted by accusations of sexual violence against several women received, Friday October 20, an 18-month suspension pronounced by the French Sailing Federation, franceinfo learned from a source close to the matter, confirming information from the newspaper The Parisian. The skipper is also subject to a temporary suspension of his license for five years as well as a ten-year ineligibility for the governing bodies of the FFVoile. The navigator appealed this decision.

“Kevin Escoffier notes that the disciplinary committee expressly ruled out any sexual assault, retaining inappropriate and/or unsuitable behavior in support of its decision”, reacted his lawyer in a press release sent to franceinfo. Last August, the federation opened disciplinary proceedings for “inappropriate behavior” towards women.

On the legal side, the Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation against the 43-year-old sailor for events that occurred in May with a young woman during a stopover on The Ocean Race in the United States. The latter, a member of her team, described having suffered a sexual assault. Several other women then spoke of non-consensual touching on the part of the Breton sailor.
