Continuation, but not end, in the controversy surrounding the Muslim school in Valence and the sale of municipal land with a view to its expansion. The association “values and success” which manages this school feels discriminated against, after the decision of the Prefect of Drôme. The representative of the State in the department sent a free appeal to the city of Valence, inviting it to cancel the sale of the municipal land. According to her, this land is part of the public domain and therefore cannot be sold as is. The president of the association Mourad Jabri protests: _”_it’s a wasteland, young people from the neighborhood rodeo on it. He’s been there for 30 years.” He adds : “It’s the judge who will assess. But in fact, for it to be considered in the public domain, there are conditions. If it had been a park, a parking lot or a play area for children, it could have been in the public domain but there is no reason for us to rule as the prefect says.
We really feel that there is a desire to bring down this project by all means – Mourad Jabri President of the association values and success
This father, a merchant from Valence, admits that he does not understand: “Today, we have the impression of being under a steamroller which does not differentiate between good people and bad people, good intentions and bad intentions.” The man feels discriminated against and assures that he is considering legal proceedings also on this aspect of things: “we have evidence of discrimination”. He recalls that with his association he met the prefect almost a year ago: “She is aware of the project and she has never opposed itHe concludes on the legal point raised by the prefect: “the argument for us, it does not hold.”
