Multidisciplinary artist Paryse Martin is no more

Multidisciplinary artist Paryse Martin died last Monday “following a heart complication,” Laval University announced Tuesday.

She was a teacher there and also practiced painting, sculpture, illustration and animation. “A prolific and admired artist, a teacher of great generosity, she will have had a profound impact on the School of Art and a whole generation of artists. His unexpected departure leaves us speechless,” the establishment said in a press release.

Born in 1959 in Maine, in the United States, Ms. Martin has held numerous exhibitions in Quebec, Canada, as well as abroad. She holds a master’s degree in visual arts from Laval University as well as a doctorate in arts studies and practices from the University of Quebec in Montreal.
