(Vancouver) Outdoor retailer Mountain Equipment Company announced Friday the appointment of Peter Hlynsky as CEO.
Mr. Hlynsky joined the Vancouver-based company in 2020 as Chief Financial Officer. He later served as Chief Operating Officer.
He succeeds Eric Claus, who led the company after it filed for protection from creditors and was sold to US private investment firm Kingswood Capital Management.
Mr. Hlynsky said he doesn’t expect to dramatically change the company, but will continue the supply chain overhaul the company has been working on for several years.
He said the redesign would be obvious to customers during this holiday shopping season because the retailer worked with sellers to lower prices by ordering twice as many products while selling them at half price.
Hlynsky says this model generates more sales because it moves product through the system and allows the company to prepare quickly for the next season.
