The staff of Vinci’s Autoroutes du Sud de la France (ASF) are called to strike this weekend, the first weekend of summer holidays, reports France Bleu Vaucluse. The CFDT has filed a strike notice from Friday 5 a.m. to Sunday 10 p.m.

The CFDT ASF is demanding on X (ex-Twitter) the automatic replacement of all departures with permanent positions, believing that the ASFs are losing “100 positions every year”. “Since privatization, since 2006, we have not hired anyone at the toll booths and no one has been replaced.”laments Fabrice Bergery, CFDT ASF central delegate, on France Bleu Vaucluse. He assures that “At the time, there were 1,300 of us working at the toll booths, compared to 700 today.”

The CFDT ASF also denounces a “reorganization of the toll service with a pooling of personnel across the three Vinci Autoroutes companies: a teleassistant who works in Nantes can take a call on the network on the Nice side”The union is also calling for the immediate hiring of seasonal workers at the toll booths for this summer.

The ASF network manages nearly 2,700 kilometers of motorways, which are very busy during holiday departures, such as the A7 and the A9. The CFDT therefore expects disruptions at tolls for motorists who request assistance. For its part, Vinci promises that “continuity of service will be ensured across the entire motorway network.”
