Established in Morocco, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) inaugurated its first North American branch in Montreal on Friday.
It will not offer accredited training or host students on its premises. Instead, it aims to strengthen research ties between Moroccan and Canadian researchers in various strategic sectors, including agriculture, artificial intelligence and mining.
“Our desire to set up in Canada is to be able to work with the best,” said the general manager of the Canadian branch, Fatiha Cherradi, during a presentation to the media at the Ritz-Carlton hotel.
Founded by a Moroccan industrial group in 2017, UM6P has since opened numerous campuses across Morocco, and more recently in Paris.
