At least 90 people were killed in an Israeli strike that hit a school in Gaza on Saturday, August 10. According to Hamas, the school was sheltering displaced people.

Dozens of dead bodies were found at dawn on Saturday, August 10, in a Koranic school in Gaza City. The adjacent mosque was also hit. In the rubble, a little girl calls out for her father, who was killed instantly. According to Hamas, some people were praying at the time of these airstrikes. Others were sleeping on the upper floors of the school, which were used as shelters for displaced Palestinians. In the morning, at daybreak, a child discovered the terrible scene. On the spot, an old man frozen with fear is unable to move and women mourn the dead.

This strike is one of the deadliest since the start of the war in Gaza. “They hit without caring whether there are children, women, young people or old people”laments a resident. According to Israel, about twenty Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants, including commanders, were operating from the struck compound. The Jewish state claims that this school was used to carry out terrorist attacks. These strikes come as Israel says it is ready to resume negotiations for a ceasefire.
