Greenpeace, Alternatiba, Friends of the Earth, France nature environment, Earth Uprisings, Attac, Youth for Climate, Riposte Alimentaire and Extinction Rebellion and several dozen other associations and personalities are calling on Sunday January 28 to “join farmers in their mobilizations” next week and “refuse to be labeled as enemies of farmers”.
In a forum, the leaders of these associations and signatories of this appeal, such as the filmmaker Cyril Dion and the activist Camille Etienne, claim to have “always [été] mobilized with determination on the issue of the agricultural model and the working and living conditions of farmers. Because we know the considerable importance of agriculture on the environment.”
“It is as allies that we call on you to join you on the streets”
They are therefore calling for mobilization alongside farmers who are planning new mobilizations next week, notably converging towards Paris. “It is as allies that we call on you to join you on the streets and in your actions in the days to come to carry this message, and to defend the peasant world”they say to farmers.
Furthermore, they present themselves as “always […] the allies of the peasants”and rejects the opposition between ecologists and farmers: “Contrary to what government propaganda or authoritarian speeches say which stir up hatred between us to better profit from our lives: we will continue to be your allies, because it is a question of survival.”
