(Montreal) A fishing trip turned into a tragedy Saturday afternoon near the Monts Valin sector, in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
For a reason that remains to be clarified, a sixty-year-old fell into the waters of Lake Manon. He was accompanied by another man who called for help around 12:15 p.m.
“According to the first information collected, two men were engaged in fishing activities on Lake Manon and suddenly one of them, aged 61, disappeared in the waters of the lake,” said Sergeant Hélène St -Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The person who was missing was located and “brought back to the banks, before being transported to a hospital center, where unfortunately he was pronounced dead,” said Sergeant St-Pierre.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
The Sûreté du Québec has opened an investigation.
