A man in his 60s allegedly sexually assaulted two women near a bus shelter, going so far as to follow them onto the bus. The alleged attacker, arrested last week, could have had other victims, according to the police.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) arrested Cafer Taner last Thursday. The suspect in his 60s faces charges of sexual assault and obtaining sexual services for consideration.
He allegedly sexually assaulted two women in two separate incidents. “The investigators of the Sexual Exploitation Section have reason to believe that the man could have had other victims,” said the SPVM in a press release.
The first attack dates back to December 26. Around 10:50 a.m. in the borough of Montreal-Nord, the suspect allegedly approached a woman in a bus shelter, then followed her to the bus. During the trip, he would have committed acts of a sexual nature, in addition to asking the victim to send him explicit photos and to solicit sexual services, in return for money.
The investigation showed that the suspect also allegedly approached another woman using the same modus operandi.
Cafer Taner is a 63-year-old swarthy-skinned man. He speaks French and English. He is 1.70m tall and weighs 50kg. He has gray hair and brown eyes. He wears a full and graying mustache, specifies the police force.
Anyone who has been a victim or a witness to reprehensible acts of a sexual nature committed by the suspect is invited to report to his neighborhood police station.
