The collision occurred around 9 a.m. at the corner of Sherbrooke Street West and Guy Street. The driver was traveling southbound on Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges. The collision is said to have occurred when the pedestrians crossed facing a red light.

“An 83-year-old man was thrown to the ground and rushed to a hospital with head injuries,” said Montreal Police Service (SPVM) spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron. He was conscious when taken to hospital. The lady accompanying him also fell to the ground, but escaped with only minor injuries.

Located a few steps from the Guy-Concordia metro station, this intersection has two streets with two-way traffic. There are traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.

Investigators are at the scene of the collision.
