The 60-year-old was unconscious when taken to hospital in critical condition.
According to testimony obtained by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the driver of the vehicle was heading south on Papineau when he hit the pedestrian who was then in the middle of the intersection.
At this place, where lanes reserved for buses go in each direction, pedestrian lights punctuate the traffic and the marking was redone this summer.
The driver was not injured, but was still transported to a hospital in a state of nervous shock.
Investigators will try to reconstruct the circumstances that led to the accident.
