Montreal North | Boil water advisory lifted except for one street

The preventive boil water advisory issued in the borough of Montreal North was lifted Thursday, with the exception of Gervais Avenue between Charleroi Street and Industriel Boulevard.

The City of Montreal made the announcement in a press release. The notice was issued on August 20 when a manipulation on the water supply network caused a drop in pressure.

After analyzing water samples, the City concluded that the situation has been restored in the area. It is therefore no longer necessary to boil water before consuming it.

The City of Montreal has recommended certain precautions to citizens previously affected by the notice.

  • Open all cold water faucets and let the water run for a few minutes before using.
  • The same procedure applies to outdoor faucets, garden hoses and drinking fountains.
  • Empty, wash and disinfect coffee machines and ice machines.
  • Change filters in water treatment or filtration systems following the manufacturer’s recommendations.

There is no need to empty the hot water tank, according to the city.
