The accident occurred at the intersection of avenue des Récollets and rue Fleury Est, in the borough of Montreal-Nord, around 9 a.m.

A pedestrian and a two-year-old girl in a stroller were crossing at this intersection when a motorist hit them while turning, explains the spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Mariane Allaire Morin.

“The stroller was dragged several meters, so the victim, a 2-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and her death was declared in the hospital, ”explains Mr.me Morin.

The mother sustained minor lower body injuries and was treated by paramedics.

The scene is protected and the emergency services, as well as a reconstructionist, are on the scene to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
