This is the twelfth homicide on the island of Montreal this year.
The victim, a 62-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital where he had been transported in critical condition, according to what the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported.
The dispute was reported to the police shortly before 5:30 a.m. Upon their arrival at a residence on chemin de la Côte-Vertu, near the intersection of rue Cardinal in the borough of Saint-Laurent, the SPVM police officers found the victim with upper body injuries that appeared to have been caused by stab wounds.
They then proceeded to arrest a 21-year-old young man. Police were then informed that the assault allegedly occurred during a dispute between a man and his son.
A security perimeter has been erected. SPVM investigators will try to reconstruct the circumstances of the event.
