Montreal | Man in critical condition after armed attack

(Montreal) A 23-year-old Montreal man is in critical condition in a hospital center where he was transported after being stabbed.

According to agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, media relations officer for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), a call was made to 911 around 2:35 p.m. to report the armed attack.

Everything allegedly took place in an apartment on Boulevard Alexis-Nihon, not far from Chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse in the borough of Saint-Laurent.

When the police arrived, they found the victim and transported him to a hospital. “The man was reportedly stabbed several times in the upper body. At the moment, we fear for his life,” said Mr. Brabant.

His attacker, a 20-year-old man, was also hospitalized for treatment of wounds, also caused by a knife, which however did not endanger his life.

He should be met in the coming hours by police officers, said Mr. Brabant.

SPVM investigators are on site to investigate the circumstances surrounding this event.

The first hypotheses suggest an argument which would have degenerated between the two young men.

The police intend to meet witnesses and view images captured by video surveillance devices to shed light on the altercation.
