(Montreal) Another shooting broke out in downtown Montreal, this time early Monday night, near the intersection of rue Saint-Denis and boulevard de Maisonneuve Est.
A young man in his 20s who was injured was located at the scene by officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) who had been alerted shortly before 12:40 a.m. by a call made to the emergency telephone exchange. 911. He was conscious when taken to hospital by ambulance and later medical authorities said he would be alive.
The SPVM erected a security perimeter at the intersection where the shooting occurred. A firearm projectile casing was found on the ground and an examination of the scene was continuing at dawn, with the help of forensic identification technicians and the police canine squad.
No arrests were made. It appears that the perpetrators of the shooting fled before the first police arrived.
Last Wednesday, two shootings that caused as many injuries occurred downtown: one at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine Ouest and Drummond streets, and the other at the corner of Sainte-Catherine Ouest de la Union Ave.
