(Montreal) Urgences-santé sent a message on social networks on Thursday which reported a higher volume of calls than usual to obtain help from ambulances.
The corporation asked the population not to hesitate to call the 911 emergency telephone center if it seemed to them that a life was in danger.
Otherwise, Urgences-santé has invited people needing help to first dial 811, which allows them to speak to a qualified nurse for guidance, or to find a way to prioritize clinics with or without appointment.
811 is a free, confidential telephone consultation service available at all times.
When a person calls 911, a responder asks them questions to establish the urgency of the situation and communicates with the appropriate emergency services, whether police officers, firefighters or paramedics.
Urgences-santé serves the Montreal and Laval regions.
