Jason Pothier-Martin, who has been incarcerated since the weekend, was back in court Thursday morning, five days after he allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail through the window of a residence in Lévis. The 29-year-old had previously been charged Monday with criminal harassment and assault of a victim in her 30s.
Thursday, three new counts were filed against Pothier-Martin. He is notably accused of having caused injuries to a three-year-old girl in addition to having used an explosive with the intention of causing bodily harm or death.
During the intervention on the night of Friday to Saturday, the firefighters had taken charge of the child who had suffered second degree burns, in particular on the foot, in addition to having inhaled smoke. An adult was also injured. The fire broke out in the middle of the night, around 12:45 a.m. on St-Joseph Street.
Another charge of possessing an explosive substance while prohibited was also brought by the prosecutor, Mr.e Fabien Villemaire.
The latter opposed the release of the accused. Pothier-Martin will therefore return to court in September to hold his release investigation.
