The 2022 edition of Molières, hosted by Alex Vizorek, took place on May 30, in Paris. The ceremony which rewards the shows on the boards had been organized without an audience in 2020 then had been canceled last year because of the Covid. This time, we saw an audience of personalities like Vanessa Paradis on the arm of her husband. Many of the stars in competition left empty-handed this evening which coincided with the 400th anniversary of the birth of Molière, but also with a drop in attendance in theaters.
On the photo call of the evening, caught up by the wave #MeToo at the theatre, with a rally in which feminist activist Alice Coffin and actress Adèle Haenel took part in front of the Folies Bergère, we saw beautiful people parade! Barbara Schulz posed with her Molière de la Comédienne in a private theater show for As you would like by William Shakespeare. Conversely, his colleague Laetitia Casta posed for photographers without a statuette but with a smile all the same. Chic in a black dress, she was competing in the Female Revelation category for the show Clara Haskil, Prelude and Fugue.
We were also able to see Julie Depardieu, Camille Chamoux, Arthur Jugnot or even Jacques Weber (awarded a Molière d’Honneur), Daniel Russo, Alex Lutz, Florian Zeller… The new Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul Malak, also made the trip. Pauline Bureau, who won the Molière award for living French-speaking author, took advantage of her presence and recalled that “18% of public money goes to companies run by women“, calling on the minister to make it her hobbyhorse.
Note that the ceremony, broadcast on France 3, was followed by only 930,000 viewers, or 6.0% of the public. The last edition was watched by 1.02 million viewers.
