MNA Marie Montpetit returns to the National Assembly, now independent

For the first time since her exclusion from the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) caucus, MNA Marie Montpetit is back in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Ms. Montpetit repeated her disagreement with this decision by Liberal leader Dominique Anglade, who excluded her following allegations of harassment and intimidation.

“I have decided to return to the National Assembly as an independent MP and not to take any steps to be reinstated in the Liberal caucus,” she said in a press release. It is therefore with dignity and serenity that I return to the National Assembly and that I will continue to do my job to represent the citizens who elected me. »

Ms. Montpetit maintains that she has no information indicating that one or more complaints have been formally lodged against her regarding the allegations of psychological harassment and intimidation that preceded her exclusion.

“They refused to meet me, to explain the nature of the facts to me and to allow me to be heard,” she said. I was also refused a neutral and independent investigation for which I offered my full cooperation. »

Two weeks after her exclusion in November, Ms Montpetit has publicly denied any harassing or bullying behavior despite testimonies reported on condition of anonymity in the media.

A liberal source had then specified that Ms. Montpetit had been sanctioned because of her behavior, since the election of Ms. Anglade, in May 2020. The director of cabinet of Dominique Anglade and the chief whip, Filomena Rotiroti, met her on this subject several times on this subject, it had been indicated to the Duty.
