(Milwaukee) The Milwaukee Bucks have fired coach Mike Budenholzer just over a week after their first-round playoff loss to the Miami Heat.
That ending marred a season in which they had a league-leading 58-24 record.
In 2021, Budenholzer led the Bucks to their first NBA title in half a century.
The move comes three weeks after the league completed Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam’s purchase of a 25% stake in the team.
“The decision to make this change was very difficult to make,” Bucks general manager Jon Horst said in a statement.
“’Bud’ helped lead our team through five incredible seasons and ushered in an era of enduring success. We are grateful for the winning culture he helped instill in Milwaukee. »
The Bucks had the most combined regular-season and playoff wins during Budenholzer’s tenure.
He went 271-120 in the regular season and 39-26 in the playoffs.
