Météo France warns of the risk of a “rainstorm episode requiring special vigilance” in Gard, Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône. The three departments are placed in orange vigilance for thunderstorms, Friday, September 2.

The beginning of the phenomenon is expected in the middle of the afternoon, points out the forecaster, and will be marked in the evening and first part of the night by “intense rainfall” : “we expect up to 40 to 60 mm, even 70 to 100 mm in a short time, occasionally a little more due to a risk of stationarity”what “therefore generates a risk of runoff and flooding in places. Hail, gusts under thunderstorms and intense electrical activity are also to be feared”warns Météo France in its bulletin.

“Note that in the neighboring departments placed in yellow vigilance for the storm parameter, locally violent storm cells cannot be excluded”continues the forecaster.
