The deputies voted on Thursday June 6 for article 5 of the bill dedicated to the end of life, but by removing the possibility given to a third party to administer the lethal substance, noted franceinfo.

If a condemned patient, who is suffering and lucid and who is authorized to be assisted in dying, cannot physically administer the lethal product to himself, the initial text provided for another person to administer it to him, either a nurse or doctor. volunteer, either a voluntary third person, a wife, a son, a father, or even a friend.

By one vote, 43 to 42, and after long debates, the deputies therefore deleted this provision from the article. A new debate can still take place in the hemicycle on the subject during the examination of the next articles of this bill.
